Santa Claus and Popcorn... Jingle Bells and Reindeer Horn...Christmas Eve and Mistletoe... JESUS LOVES ME This I know!

Santa Claus and Popcorn is my favorite childhood Christmas song. It puts all the fun stuff in perspective in the context of Christmas... and as a kid... it made it all make sense... all the goofy crazy stuff of Christmas is our way of delighting in the absolute bliss of this fact... God sent us all the perfect gift. Salvation... not because we deserve it, but because in spite of ourselves He truly loves us. The most important line of the song states... "We celebrate 'cause a king was born with Santa Claus and Popcorn!" It's a happy skip around and dance song, because in reality that's how we all should feel about Christmas! Absolutely delighted! This weekend, I spent time with some kids I really love. My little niece came up to me and said... can I get on your lap and go "AAAAH?" and then proceded to do just that standing up on my knees and wiggling giggling AAAAHHH just because it's fun! I wish it was as easy for us as adults to just delight in the awesomeness of God's greatest gift and stop worrying about the details! So this Christmas, I hope you remember to skip and dance and celebrate with people you love and remember that whenever your bliss is interrupted by the yucky stuff of life that in reality the Creator of the universe has it covered and He holds you in the palm of His hand... and He's not letting you go! So go ahead and celebrate, and if you get a bump... the one who comforts is going to be there with you, so it's okay to cry and tell Him what's wrong, and don't worry if you don't have words... He knows your heartsong, better than you do, afterall, He wrote it!

Christmas cookies, baking tins Busy Bliss is what it is!

December is always hectic. I love the craziness though! It just makes me happy to wrap, bake, create treats and surprises for loved ones to enjoy! Sure sometimes, I'm exhausted and maybe even a little grumbly. But I love it! All the clutter and chaos is well worth it! Today is the last Saturday before Christmas and I still have a bunch to do. Every year it seems to crawl until November 1st and then time flies until January third. So far we have made sandtarts, peanut butter cookies, icebox pecan cookies, Dixie's dream bars, Cookie Cutter cookies, Mexican Bride's Cookies, Orange cookies, Ladylocks, and Gingersnaps. Today is chocolate day! Buckeyes, chocolate pretzels, and nuts are on the plan.

Why Beautiful?

It is often said that Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. So I hope this blog will reflect the beauty that I find in my life. One of God's blessings is the ability to see the loveliness of His Creation. From the beauty of a rainbow, to the joy of a fresh fallen snowfall, to the bliss of a day at the beach... I can see beauty everywhere! And when I truely think about it... those are the ordinary moments of beauty. But even more lovely are those beautiful moments of bliss with family and friends!

Why Blissful?

My favorite magazine is Victoria. It is lovely to read and enjoy and often features a section called "Find your Bliss". My life is filled with blessings from God! So indeed, I need to celebrate the joys of my life! I read a quote once that "Chocolate is proof that God delights in our pleasure!" I'm not even a great chocoholic, but it gave me pause to thing of all the things that God has created for us to enjoy. Some of my favorites...a beautiful moonlite night, the warm sunshine, the sand beneath my toes at the beach, those awesome waves that make me know how amazing God's love is... He is definitely an awesome God!!!
I hope that I can use this blog to reflect on the blessings of my life and share my joys and thoughts with you the reader.

Why blog?

This past year, I have learned to love facebook! I love being able to see and hear about my friends lives even if they live miles and miles away. What's been even more fun is to read a view some of their blogs! Hopefully you'll enjoy mine too!
